2021 Arrives.

Paradoxical as always, this checkmark on the calendar does not cease to amaze.

So many endings, and equally, so many beginnings. Such relief and yes, so much hope.

What does it mean? Do things change? Do they remain the same?

The air smells the same.

Same rambunctious kids in the playground as I look out of my window. The sun exploded through the clouds at the same point that it did last year.

Seems fashionable to not be too kind to the year gone by – and this past year, with all the global turmoil, has had more than a fair share of not so good. It surely was not an easy year.

Yet there is this immense sense of gratitude – another year lived. Immense hope that somehow the coming days will bear better fruit.

Things will get better. We will get better. I will be better.

We hardly put pen to paper now. Quite unlike just a few years ago, when notes, letter and cheques, for a few days in, the ‘year’ would bear scratches of corrections as muscle memory put down the year just gone by 🙂

There is much to be thankful for.
